MOTTO Deus dabit vela ( Latin: God will give protection)

The name Tennant is first recorded in 1309. John Tennant of Glenconner (1726-1810) whose ancestors were tenant farmers near Ayr in the fifteenth century, was a friend of the poet Robbie Burns (1759- 96) who wrote a verse epistle to his son, in which several other members of the family are referred to. His great-grandson Charles Tennant (1823-1906) was greated a baronet in 1885. His eldest son, Sir Edward Tennant (1859-1920) Lord Lieutenant of Peebles 1908-20,was made 1st lord Glenconner in 1911. A family by the name of Tennant was established as farmers and private brewers at Easter Common, Glasgow in 1556. A descendant built the Saracen`s Head Inn whose comforts and coal fire, Dr Johnson and James Boswell enjoyed in 1773, while three years later John and Robert Tennant founded the public brewery which still bears their name.

I was born in Glasgow and moved to Kent many years ago. I took to playing the Great Highland Bagpipes in 2004 and have been a regular piper of the Rochester City Pipe Band based in Maidstone Kent.I have now moved onto another band in Kent, Glen Duart Pipe Band based in Hadlow, Nr Tonbridge.  I have piped at many events all over Kent , the home counties and in Europe I have also  piped at private events around Kent and the home counties.
